Your Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join a high performing teaching team in the role of TAFE Teacher – Hospitality and Cookery.
We are looking for people with current industry experience, knowledge, and qualifications in the Hospitality and Cookery field to join our teaching team.
This is a permanent full-time position and will be based at the Ipswich Campus reporting to the Educational Team Leader.
Mandatory Requirements
Applicants must possess relevant formal industry vocational qualification Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (SIT30821) or equivalent and the following:
- Minimum three years industry experience;
- Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
- Current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided; and
- Evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment.
- Additionally, to become a TAFE Teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills (or TAELLN401A) and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools (or TAESS502A or TAEASS502B); or
- TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
- TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training or its successor; or
- TAE50211 Diploma of Training Design and Development; or
- TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development or its successor; or
- A higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland)
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card). Confirmation of employment is conditional upon the preferred applicant being issued or willing to obtain a Blue Card. For further information, please access Blue Card Services: http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/; and
- Current Queensland Driver’s Licence.
Highly Desirable Skills and Experience
Candidates who possess the following will be highly regarded:
- High level of digital literacy skills across various platforms (online Learning Management Systems)
- Qualifications and experience across both back-of-house and front-of-house.
Salary
The salary range for a TAFE Teacher is $85,142 – 113,971 (gross) per annum, depending on educational qualifications held and teaching experience.

- Possess skills and knowledge of national training packages and accredited courses to support competency development and the ability to respond positively to industry and individual needs.
- Demonstrate capacity for best practice in the management of teaching and learning activities including the development of industry relevant, flexible, innovative, technology enhanced learning options, training products and solutions.
- Demonstrate capacity for initiative, self-management, teamwork, and sustainable practice, with the ability to accept, promote and manage change through the use of well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate commitment to self-development with the focus on maintaining skills contemporary industry and teaching practices and the use of educational technologies and Learning Management Systems to support learning.
- Possess sound knowledge of safe, equitable and anti-discriminatory work practices and demonstrate ability to be flexible, inclusive, responsive and deliver quality student experience.
