Teachers and School Administrators employed at Menzies Community School in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
About the Role
Menzies Community School is looking to appoint a creative, diligent and enthusiastic Teacher – Primary.
The successful applicant should be highly motivated and dedicated to raising literacy and numeracy achievement, as well as fostering social and emotional skills, through the effective use of whole-school approaches, explicit teaching and a commitment to the National Quality Standards.
The successful applicant should possess the ability to create an effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment based on high expectations. You should have an understanding of appropriate assessments, and be able to use data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs, set targets and plan for differentiated learning opportunities for all students in their class
Our school
Menzies Community School is situated 130 km north of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and is a highly supportive and inclusive school. The school population of 32 includes students from Menzies township and students who travel by bus each day from Morapoi Station. Literacy and Numeracy are priorities with explicit instructional methods in place in each of these learning areas. At Menzies, we focus our learning opportunities in a way that is culturally and contextually responsive, with attention to the individual needs of our students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
