Position Information
Wauchope Public School (WPS) currently has an enrolment of 620, including 168 Aboriginal students. The school is located 20km west of Port Macquarie and is a member of the Bago Community of Schools. WPS has a caring, inviting, inclusive and positive school culture. This culture is made possible due to an experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated staff and an active and committed parent body and community. The school is committed to ongoing improvement in all aspects of student learning with an emphasis on literacy, numeracy and information technology. There is a strong commitment to student welfare, student leadership, creative arts, sport, gifted and talented and special needs students.
Wauchope PS has seven Supported Learning classes.

Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated experience teaching students in a support class setting with diverse needs including autism, behaviour difficulties, Intellectual Disability, learning, social and emotional needs.
- Demonstrated ability or capacity to develop and deliver a differentiated evidence-based curriculum through the design and implementation of high-quality Student Plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and organisation with the ability to positively contribute to our whole school culture by working collaboratively with staff members, students, families and external agencies.
- Proven ability to implement effective wellbeing initiatives that maintain and enhance a positive, supportive and culturally inclusive classroom environment, underpinned by an understanding of the diverse needs of individual students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
