Position Information 

Mary Brooksbank School is a School for Specific Purposes in the Camden Network of Schools and within the Regional South School Performance Directorate. The school is currently a leader in quality education for students with a primary diagnosis of moderate or severe intellectual disability. Mary Brooksbank School has 115 enrolments (9% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 58% from a non-English speaking background) ranging in age from 4 to 18 years (K-12) across 20 classes. The school values strong relationships with families, other agencies, and the community, and is strongly focused on quality teaching, holistic learning, and community partnerships.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Moderate to Severe intellectual disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and other complex needs such as behaviour disorders, mental health, complex health care needs and sensory impairments K-12.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum and implement individualised learning programs through personalised learning and support plans that are inclusive and maximise student engagement.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that contribute to a culture of inclusivity, with the ability to proactively engage with students, colleagues, parents, carers, school learning support officers, external agencies and the wider school community.
  • Proven experience and a willingness to contribute to whole school roles and responsibilities, and contribute to a positive school culture. 
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
