Tamworth West Public School is located near the centre of Tamworth and services the needs of approximately 360 students from very diverse backgrounds within the city of Tamworth.

We currently house 14 mainstream classes, two moderate intellectual disability/autism support classes and a support class for students with mild intellectual disability.

Our staff is caring and supportive. We enthusiastically embrace and implement innovations in many areas of school life to ensure the best possible learning opportunities for our students.

We are an inclusive and student-centred school that offers a positive, spacious and well-equipped environment. Our physical environment is inviting and interesting. We offer indoor and outdoor learning environments and are fortunate to be able to continue to improve our aesthetics through the dedication of our hard-working P&C.

As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, our community supports and promotes the development of students who are respectful, resilient and responsible. The school student population is 31% Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

• Approval and/or experience to teach special education with a focus on improving the learning and wellbeing outcomes for students with Autism (Au), Moderate Intellectual (IO), Mild Intellectual (IM) disabilities, and students with diverse learning needs.
• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively contribute to our whole school culture by working collaboratively with staff members, students, families and external agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum to build, implement and review effective approaches that meet the needs of students as determined by their Personalised Learning and Support Plans and transition plans.
• Demonstrated capacity to create an inclusive, well-managed classroom environment through the implementation of evidence-informed wellbeing strategies.  

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
