This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2024

Baldivis Secondary College (SC) are seeking a passionate, innovative and committed Teacher – Year Coordinator to join their fantastic team.

Reporting to the respective Student Services Manager and Curriculum Team Leader, you will work collaboratively with the School Leadership team to provide an environment that nurtures the emotional, physical and academic wellbeing of all students. In collaboration with members of the Student Services team, the Year Coordinator will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and encouraging school staff, volunteers from the community and others to share ownership of the school’s vision and goals. There will be a teaching allocation based on your area of expertise of between 0.2 FTE and 0.6 FTE, depending on the business needs of the college.

A high level of interpersonal skills and drive with the ability to establish and maintain networks, both internally and externally will be highly regarded. Additionally, the ability to effectively communicate to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families with the goal to achieve the best outcomes for our students will also be highly regarded.

A large portion of this role will require exceptional organisational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively, prioritise, keep accurate records and the ability to analyse data to inform future practice.

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, actioning, and reviewing aspects of the Student Services strategic plan, as well as developing strategies and programs to ensure engagement and improved learning outcomes for students. An understanding of curriculums and pathways is highly desirable.

As such, our entire Instructional staff utilise AVID strategies, other best instructional practices, and 21st century tools to ensure post-school readiness and improved academic performance for all students.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
