This is a pool process with permanent full-time opportunities.

Currently there are two (2) permanent positions available for immediate filling, however additional positions are expected to become available over the next 12 months.

ABOUT THE OFFICE OF THE COMMISSIONER FOR THE VICTIMS OF CRIME

The Office of the Commissioner for Victims of Crime (OCVoC) promotes and safeguards the interests of victims of crime in the Western Australia justice system and is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the Departments response to victims of crime including policy and legislative reform, providing advice to government, and building collaborative work arrangements within the Justice portfolio, public sector and broader community.

Relevant to the advertised positions, a critical function of OCVoC is undertaken by the Victim Engagement Unit (VEU). The VEU is responsible for making recommendations to courts and releasing authorities about what protective conditions (if any) should be imposed on an offender’s supervised order to protect the victim from harm or unwanted contact.

ABOUT THE ROLES

The newly created Team Leader positions will primarily be responsible for managing a team of Victim Engagement Officers in the delivery of victim-focused reports to court and releasing authorities to guide decision making with respect to protective conditions.

Please note, that while you will be asked during the lodgement process which role you are applying for, the successful applicant may be offered either role depending on circumstances and business needs.

In this context, the roles will include:

Team Leader Service Delivery

  • assessing and managing cases
  • providing expertise and guidance to a team of approximately 20 officers engaged in victim engagement and protection work across the state
  • ensuring state-wide services are effectively delivered, including the management of regional staff and stakeholders
  • working with the Team Leader Case Management and others in the development of contemporary processes and policies which contribute to the delivery of high-quality victim services.
  • developing staff, building capability, contributing to business planning, priorities and overall team performance.

Team Leader Case Management

  • assessing and managing cases
  • providing expertise and guidance to a team of officers engaged in FDV and other complex victim engagement and protection work
  • managing the business and administrative support services of the VEU
  • working with the Team Leader Service Delivery and others in the development of contemporary processes and policies which contribute to the delivery of high-quality victim services
  • developing staff, building capability, contributing to business planning, priorities and overall team performance.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
