About the program
The Early Intervention Psychosocial Support Response (EIPSR) compliments clinical intervention and treatment by actively supporting the recovery of clients with emerging or existing psychiatric disability. This initiative will deliver early intervention psychosocial supports to clients of clinical mental health services who do not qualify for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) or are waiting for their NDIS plan to begin. This includes a range of tailored psychosocial supports that will build the capacity of people with a ‘severe mental illness’, their carers and families to understand and better self-manage their mental health condition, connect to local health and community services, recover and participate in the life of the community.
The EIPSR program will deliver support with a focus on community development and engagement and family capacity building. The program will work with participants to address key development areas that support social skills, autonomy, decision-making, healthy lifestyle, forming self-identity, self-esteem and resilience. A key outcome will be supporting the participant to identify and nurture natural supports that sustain recovery and assist in the development of self-management skills.
The EIPSR program is delivered as an outreach service in the home, office or the community. The service is recovery oriented and utilises the Outcomes STAR model, optimal health, self-care plans and intentional peer support. The service is consumer – centred, family and carer inclusive, collaborative and integrated with community and clinical services.
