Job description

Hands On People is looking for an experienced and exceptional Team Leader- Finance Team on a Full-Time basis to join our team in Darwin, who will be reporting to the Manager - Corporate Services. We are hoping to broaden our organization and we need someone who can take our services to the next level. The right candidate should be able to guide the team in providing high standards of support and service. This role will be offered as a 1-year full-time contract (38hrs/week) with initial 3 months of probation with a possibility of extension after the end of the contract. Working hours will be from 8:30 am - 5 pm (Mon) and 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (Tue to Fri). 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Aid the Manager-Corporate Services to monitor the financial performance of the organization to maintain a budgeted expenditure.
  • Verify and approve financial requests from other departments.
  • Must comply with all the financial and legal requirements, responsibilities, and obligations of the organization.
  • Must assist and contribute to the smooth running of the team and be a strong contributor to the training and development of the team.
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and appraisal of Finance Team members.
  • Monthly Financial reports are to be submitted to the Managing Director/Manager-Corporate Services.
  • Plan and manage the individual activity plans and targets for all team members.
  • Process BAS, IAS, FBT, and Payroll Tax
  • Setup centre pay Deductions.
  • Maintain Financial data using the Xero accounting system [Bank Reconciliation, Business, Accounting, Contacts, and Payroll].
  • Authority and responsibility must be delegated to team members with appropriate supervision, accountability, and review.
  • Accurate financial records must be maintained.
  • NDIS invoices must be claimed from the NDIA portal.
  • Generate & Validate invoices and then must be sent to concerned parties.
  • Expenses must be controlled to meet the approved budget.
  • Accounts receivables and payables must be managed.
  • Must maintain regular interactions with all the suppliers, clients, and customers of the organization.
  • Maintain all insurances like PIPL, vehicle, glass, workmen compensation, etc.
  • Special projects will be assigned from time to time which will require your expertise but might be from other departments.

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in a team-leading role for finance.
  • Proven record in accounts/finance role with a strong emphasis on AP/AR tasks and working to tight deadlines and managing multiple requests for support from the team.
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles, accounts payable, receivables, preparation of financial reports, and GST in relation to suppliers.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy (including advanced Excel), keyboarding skills (alpha and numeric), and proficiency in all modules of Xero.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to provide high-quality internal and external customer service and work productively in a team environment.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with a demonstrated initiative to problem-solve financial administrative matters.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Relevant Accounts / Finance degree and experience in the field.
  • Current NT unrestricted drivers’ license 
  • Current First Aid Certificate and CPR
  • Valid OCHRE card.

Desirable:

  • Extended knowledge about the NDIS system and the industry.
  • Able to work in a team and be proactive in finding solutions to anticipated challenges.
  • CA/CPA/IPA Australia qualification with ongoing membership preferred.
