For example, SLR has recently committed to being a climate-neutral business by 2030 and adopting the Science-Based Target Initiative’s (SBTi) “Business Ambition for 1.5°C” framework to set emissions reduction targets and drive our climate action plan. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and experienced Contaminated Land Consultant to join SLR’s Land Quality and Remediation discipline in Perth. We’re looking for a like-minded individual who enjoys working with an enthusiastic, committed, and fun-loving team, is a good listener, and enjoys solving issues for clients.
Reporting to the Technical Discipline Manager, you will lead the WA team for Land Quality & Remediation. You will be working very closely with the multidisciplinary consultants within our Perth office as well as the rest of the Land Quality and Remediation consultants across APAC including contaminated site auditors and technical specialists comprising principal hydrogeologists, risk assessors, chemists, and environmental/remediation engineers to deliver quality contaminated land services to our Western Australian and National clients.
  Key Responsibilities Job tasks & Responsibilities
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders across the region and provide you with the support on your technical growth within the wider SLR team. With a passion for contaminated land management, earth sciences, contaminated hydrogeology, or civil/ environmental engineering, you will work with likeminded individuals, whilst enjoying excellent career opportunities across a range of industry sectors. As a self-starter, you will be able to display confidence and high-level project management, tenders/proposals preparation, data analysis and interpretation, and reporting. Additionally, you would be expected to work with the team to identify opportunities for growth, leading with team resourcing and development, and act as a professional role model for staff across the team with a caring and compassionate nature.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
  • A professional qualification in environmental science or engineering or other relevant degree and circa 10+ years professional experience in consulting or similar industry role
  • Proven capability in environmental / contamination management (soil and groundwater)/ remediation (soil and groundwater), soil science, preferably in the development, mining and oil and gas sectors.
  • The ability to analyse and interpret complex situations/problems and develop appropriate solutions in an effective and efficient manner.
  • A high level of commercial acumen and proven success in developing winning proposals and client relationship management.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven report writing skills and high computer literacy including data management and manipulation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent driving history and hold a current unrestricted driver's license.
  • Australia Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
