About The Role
This role provides direct field supervision to a small team of dedicated cemetery staff who deliver quality services and care for our four cemeteries within the Townsville City Council area. You are responsible for overseeing the:
- Preparation of grave sites and ashes sites for the interment of deceased persons;
- Maintenance of the grounds to a high standard; and
- Provision of highly effective, courteous and compassionate customer service.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with experience supervising field based or operational staff and providing technical advice and support.
- Experience in identifying, scoping and supervising of external contracted resources.
- Experience in utilising Workplace Health and Safety, Traffic Management systems and frameworks in an operational environment, including prestart inspections, site audits and licence checks.
- Capacity to use computer software systems including the ability to acquire the skills to use Council specific software.
- Demonstrated ability to perform work at the trade level qualifications.
- Sound leadership experience with industry experience in Parks Environment, Cemeteries, Landscape and Horticultural activities and advice, that may include:
- labouring, gardening, cleaning, maintenance and repair, maintaining and pruning vegetation, grass and
- turf management, burial preparation, herbicide application, traffic control and
- signage set-out.
- Verification of competency and demonstrated experience in the effective operation and maintenance of relevant plant, equipment and tools utilised in Parks and Open Space Management.
- Current "C" class manual driver’s licence.
- Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
- Agricultural Chemical Distribution and Control (ACDC) Licence or ability to obtain
- Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain
- Safe Working Near Live Exposed Parts training course or ability to obtain.
