Job description
The Public Service Association of SA (PSA) is the principal trade union representing state public sector workers who provide a wide range of public services to the South Australian community.
The PSA is committed to pursuing the interests of its members through strong, effective representation and advocacy, and is dedicated to promoting the value and importance of the public sector in our community.
The PSA is now seeking a Team Leader, Organising, to take responsibility for the management, leadership and strategic direction for an Organising Team undertaking union organising, Worksite Representative development, campaign and recruitment activities.
The key responsibilities of the Team Leader, Organising, include:
- Effective leadership and supervision of the Organising Team.
- Responsibility for the structure and accountability of the union organising activities of the Organising Team.
- Development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing review of standards, work processes, plans, systems and guidelines relevant to the organising and industrial practice.
- Development and support of Worksite Representative structures.
- Leading campaigning and developing the capacity of members and Worksite Representatives.
- Contributing to the strategic and operational planning of the organisation.
- Ensuring that organising activities are congruent with organisational goals and objectives.
- Ensuring that organising activities achieve recruitment and retention of members.
- Building the strength and visibility of the PSA in worksites.
- Conducting regular performance reviews against organisational standards and with identified key performance indicators and plans for all Organising Team members.
Persons suitable for this role will have extensive experience in union organising, and experience in leading and supporting others in a team environment where planning, structure and accountability are key.
A leadership style of leading by example, strong communication skills, respect and compassion for others are all critical to this role.
