What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Member in Learning and Development Command (LDC) Reform. 

Are you passionate about Learning and Development? Do you enjoy enhancing organisational capability? Are you ready to drive positive change? If so, a role in LDC Reform might just be what you are after! 

The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the implementation of reform initiatives in Learning and Development command. Reform will examine and deliver solutions to enable the AFP to modernise its recruitment and learning systems and tools. Experience in adult vocation training management and online delivery capabilities and knowledge of Registered Training Organisation systems and requirements at an enterprise level would be beneficial. The role will involve broad stakeholder engagement, administrative report writing and presentation development, strategic and critical thought, and an ability to work flexibly on varying tasks. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and within a team. This role is based at AFP Barton College but flexibility is offered for applicants to work from NSW. Domestic travel around Australia may be a requirement of the role. 

As a Team Member in the AFP you will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

Performing the role of Team Member within LDC Reform, you will:

  • Provide support in implementing a range of reform initiatives, including the recommendations from the Recruit Training review and the Detective Training Program review.
  • Contribute to LDC strategies and initiatives for continuous improvement and long-term success of the AFP.
  • Build and sustain effective working relations with internal and external stakeholders and actively promote collaboration with LDC.
  • Leverage a positive attitude, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Coordination and management of the team mailbox and other administrative processes.
  • Provide support on the development, monitoring, reporting, compliance, and project improvement activities.
  • Produce and manage instructional material.
  • Conduct secretariat functions.
  • Undertake general tasks to progress the achievement of team outcomes.

Essential requirements

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application. 
  • Hold a Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or have the ability to obtain one. 
  • Have a high level of understanding of the role and function of the AFP.
  • Have contemporary knowledge and experience utilising the Microsoft suite.

Desirable requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:

  • A relevant qualification in education or project management 
  • Experience in project management. 
  • Experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of training programs. 

Additional information

  • This position is an AFP Band level 5.
  • This role is located in the ACT, however, working from NSW may be possible.
  • Proof of a minimum of two COVID-19 vaccinations (or one dose if the Janssen vaccine was used) will be required if an offer of employment is made.
