We have a fixed term opportunity for an experienced Technical Advisor – Environment (Regional) until 15th March 2024. Based in either Karratha or Perth, will see you coordinate Environmental Compliance across the Northwest Region and provide advice and guidance to regional operations on environmental management issues and improvements.
The role will involve:
- Undertake environmental inspections for all part IV and Part V regulated assets in the Pilbara and Kimberley districts
- Undertake periodic licence and ministerial statement compliance assessment and reporting for part IV and Part V regulated assets in the Pilbara and Kimberley districts
- Determine and coordinate implementation of compliance improvement initiatives
- Monitor and report on environmental performance to regional lead team and operations staff
- Advise and liaise with regional management and staff on their environmental responsibilities and accountabilities
- Assists in obtaining environmental approvals for activities within the Northwest Region
- Support the Regional incident management process for Environmental Incidents, including incident reporting, investigation, and determination of corrective actions
- Participate in the implementation of the Corporations Environmental Management System
- Liaise with the corporate environmental teams to roll out environmental improvement initiatives
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as environmental science, environmental engineering, or natural resource management and/or considerable experience in leading the delivery of environmental management and influencing environmental strategies, programs and change management in an operational context
- Considerable experience in environmental management, particularly environmental compliance assessment and managing regulatory matters for a construction or infrastructure maintenance and delivery organisation
- Relevant experience in incident management
- Knowledge of legislation and standards governing state and federal environmental regulation
- Relevant experience in environmental and compliance issues directly relevant to the water and wastewater industry
- Relevant experience in the operation and maintenance of large water supply infrastructure
- Proven skills in developing relationships with external stakeholders including government agencies, community, and interest groups to facilitate effective environmental management outcomes
- Generous co-contribution superannuation up to 14%
- Karratha based location allowance paid fortnightly as an allowance ($12,865 to $25,730 annually)
- Leave loading of 17.5% on annual leave of 4 weeks
- Additional five days annual leave after one year of service (for working above the 26th parallel)
- Karratha based air-conditioning subsidies up to $2,500 annually
- Karratha based eligibility for housing assistance up to $37,000 annually

- Strong capability in the use of various communication techniques
- Previous experience in a process environment and an ability to quickly understand process technologies.
- Previous experience in Wastewater process technologies is highly regarded.
