We have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Consultants in Environmental or Oil Spill Response Management to join our Spill Preparedness Team. This role will be located in Perth, Australia.

Job description:

The individual will report to our Consultancy and Training Services Lead and is expected to have a good track record and experience in coordinating technical projects to meet oil spill preparedness and emergency response requirements for clients.

It is further expected that you are proficient in performing the above in a variety of related duties, including but not limited to:

  • Actively participate in the delivery Oil Pollution Emergency Plans for the clients.
  • Reliably assist in the development of Spill Impact Mitigation Assessments/Net.
  • Support the team’s efforts in Environmental Benefit Analysis, response strategy formulation and ALARP demonstration for client projects.
  • Coordinate and contribute to site data collection and analysis in delivering oil spill response capability reviews (strategies, tactics and operations) and environmental sensitivity and impact assessments across projects to conserve and protect wildlife.
  • Where appropriate and based on assessment findings, study finding and propose solutions to address negative environmental impact.
  • Assist in the technical advisory support for oil spill incidents and client exercises which can include implementing conservation, management policies and activities to conserve and protect our natural eco-system.
  • Contribute in the development of and the delivery of oil spill technical training services (response strategies, incident management, field operations) that comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Actively participate in the Incident response planning and coordination of field operational activities in accordance with the Service Level Agreement to ensure response plans and arrangements integrate with national and international arrangements for oil spill events, including the provision of environmental information of significance for management planning. 
  • Organize and support Tier 3 Oil Spill Incident exercises locally and internationally in various roles (operations, logistics, planning) for client incident management teams according to the ICS system. 

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environment Science. A Master’s degree in Science will be an added benefit. 
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in the industry is required. 
  • Experience in attending to oil spill events or planning/managing field response operations
  • Understanding of Oil Spill Regulatory Framework and requirements; including a broad understanding of oil and gas industry activities such as seismic, drilling and de-commissioning activities
  • Established report writing and reviewing skills with a flexibility to participate in field response experience is a plus.
