Technical Director - Environment Management And Approval

The opportunity
Our Environment and Society team is recruiting a new Technical Director - Environmental Impact Assessment and Approvals for our Adelaide office. You will work with the Environment and Society Lead, SA in developing an enhanced local environmental impact assessment and Approvals capability. The role will be an integral part of growing our team supporting environmental, sustainability and development approval works across major projects in the energy, water and transport markets, and being an integral part of multidisciplinary teams on major projects.
We are seeking an experienced Advisor/Consultant with an excellent track record of working with local energy and water clients to deliver environment and Approvals outcomes. Together with your local experience and contacts, you will build connections across our networks of national and international experts, to bring this knowledge to our clients and their projects.

Key duties:

• Continue to build our team of environmental impact and Approvals specialists with an initial focus on supporting key renewable energy, water and transport clients.
• Collaborating with our Environment and Society teams across Australia to develop and deliver cross-sector opportunities.
• Leverage existing client relationships, building new relationships and supporting the development of proposals to secure environmental impact assessment and Approvals work from key clients and to support the development of a diverse and robust business.
• Provide market insight and keep abreast of industry trends and market opportunities and engage with our clients to share our collective experience.
• Supporting Mott MacDonald's social value strategy and approaches to delivering benefits to local communities, with a particular focus on social benefits to the planning and development of infrastructure.

About you
You will hold tertiary qualifications relevant to environmental impact assessment, planning, engineering, science, or related field and have proven skills in environmental impact assessment and Approvals. You will bring and establish positive relationships and will support environment and Approvals work from a range of clients in South Australia and other jurisdictions. This will include:

• Experience in working on major energy, water and transport projects across planning and design phases in South Australia.
• Experience leading approvals processes, including engagement with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Experience in preparing environmental assessments and Approvals for infrastructure and development projects, including under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience in project management of multi-disciplinary assessment teams and sub consultants.
• Ability to work with people across disciplines of the Mott MacDonald team including engineering.
