Job description

The role

As part of our Maritime group, the Technical Illustrator will be responsible for the development and administration of illustrations and graphics for ILS documentation and products.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Undertake Technical Illustration duties as necessary.
  • Develop and/or update technical illustrations to support the development of S10000D compliant publications.
  • Develop, administrate, configure and validate illustrations, graphics and supporting text for required Maritime Support System products, on time and schedule to specific standards.
  • Acquire information from engineering drawings, manual, catalogues, product research and hardware inspection to develop illustrations, graphics and supporting text.
  • Provide Photographic support and file administration to the Technical Publications team as required.
  • Develop and maintain processes, procedures and instructions related to the creation, configuration and administration of illustrations, graphics and photographs.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualification in Industrial Design (or equivalent experience) or equivalent experience in illustration and graphics development in a military or industrial field.
  • Specialises in illustrating engineering work, technical manuals, reference books and other publications.
  • Appreciation of integration and presentation of text and graphics.
  • Awareness of principles of computer driven graphic systems and software.
  • Broad experience with Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with using Corel Draw or similar, to develop technical illustrations.


As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
