Where the team fits in
This role sits in the Media Team, within the Advertising portfolio. The advertising portfolio's mission is changing the way people experience property. They do this by providing a world class advertising platform that reaches audiences across REA Group.
The Media team helps consumers share, rent, buy, sell and enjoy property, by connecting them with all sorts of products and services to help them along their property journey. This includes finance products, utilities, home services, furnishings, automotive and many more innovative advertising and lead generation tools. The fast-growing Media business includes a cross-functional team from Product, IT, Sales, Marketing, PR and Communications, HR, Finance and Legal. We're all about using digital solutions to make property and everything that supports consumers around property, simple, efficient and stress free.
This role has key strategic importance and visibility within the business. This is a unique role that will focus on delivering thought leadership in advertising technologies, designing innovative solutions, and helping teams leverage this to produce world class advertising products.
What the role is all about
  • Thought leadership in buying ads, selling ads, and sharing data with advertising clients.
Working with Design and Product to design and develop product fit for market, especially in an increasingly competitive prop-tech landscape.
Leading teams of experienced full stack developers.
Working with Tech Leads and Architects to ensure our solution is in line with our technical vision.
Informing delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort, and quality considerations.
Keeping abreast of the latest technology advancements to inform product and technical design.
Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of products, technology, process, and team development.
Actively developing skills and experience through continual learning and evaluation.
Working with stakeholders to design high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users, including vendor platforms
Who we're looking for
To set yourself up for success in this role you will have ideally gained experience in the following areas (helpful talent acquisition tip: you might want to make sure this is on your resume before you submit it):
  • A few runs on the board - you will ideally have 5+ years leading engineering teams.
A demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet client needs & solve business problems.
Expert skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies.
Demonstrated experience with modern object oriented or functional programming practice in two or more of our programming languages - Scala, Java, Ruby, Python and JavaScript.
Demonstrated experience working in Media/AdTech industry - Bidding solutions, DSPs, SSPs, Tag Management, CDPs, knowledge of targeting and creative setup used in media campaigns as well as privacy-enhancing technologies
