Our Company
Baileys is a leading West Australian based manufacturer of premium fertilisers, growing media and soil amendment products. We service the retail gardening, commercial turf and horticulture markets. Baileys is owned by Evergreen Garden Care, the worlds largest garden care network and we work closely with out national team based in Sydney.
To continue leading the market and developing high-quality products for our industry, we require you - a qualified and experienced individual to lead our technical team, with a specific focus on formulating and commercialising new products.
About your Role
As the Technical Manager, your responsibility will be to:
- Oversee the Quality Assurance position to ensure product and operations are compliant with required standards and licensing
- Oversee the Quality Control position to ensure dependable product supply and quality
- Support business development by delivery of timely product development. (Specifically, you will be responsible for fertiliser, wetting agent and soil amendment formulations, coordinating product trials, technical product information and first batch control)
- Support the sales function and customers with their technical queries.
A true team player, desirable applicants will:
- At a minimum hold a BSc in a relevant discipline, such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Soil Science, Plant Biology, Agronomy or equivalent;
- Be experienced in formulation of fertiliser products, soil chemistry and plant nutrition;
- Have management and leadership experience in a technical position;
- Be resourceful, capable of solving problems and thinking innovatively;
- Possess good time management skills, capable of delivering projects;
- Have a can do attitude, with strong practical and commercial understanding;
- Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and coordinate with other departments;
- Be tech savvy with strong MS Office skills;
- Have a personal interest in home gardening, nature and or farming.
This role reports to the R&D Director and is a full-time permanent position, business hours, Monday-Friday. Working from home 1 day per week.
