About the opportunity
The Research and Prototyping Foundry (RPF) is looking for a Technical Officer - Micro and Nanofabricationto perform a range of specialised tasks and develop key processes to provide micro-nanofabrication support to university wide researchers, students, and other users of the RPF laboratories. This role will strongly contribute to the daily operation of the facility including project support, drafting of Work, Health and Safety documents, and consumables tracking.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Facility and Program Manager, Research & Prototype Foundry
provide micro-nanofabrication research support and assistance to researchers and other technical staff working in the laboratory
provide support and assistance to researchers, students, and other technical staff with regards to ANFF supported laser mask writing facilities
maintain the facility workplace ensuring that the research requirements of the RPF are met effectively
ensure the laboratory is compliant with Workplace Health and Safety requirements
prepare reporting and documentation for the work area.
About you
bachelor’s degree in science or engineering preferred
demonstrated experience in the use of metrology and characterization instruments for micro-nanofabrication (Profilometry, Ellipsometry, AFM, SEM, FIB, HIM) and associated processing techniques in a cleanroom environment
demonstrated experience in the application of Micro and Nanofabrication, ideally in the field of quantum science and technology
experience in managing the day-to-day running of scientific instrumentation in a multiuser facility, including considering longer term outlooks for emerging instruments and/or techniques
strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders, staff, users, supervisors, and equipment suppliers
high-level verbal and written communication skills, especially in scientific communication and the preparation of reports, as well as the ability to provide training to researchers
ability to ascertain research trends, methodological developments, and the needs of researchers.
