Details: The Technical Officer Level 1 (TO1) reports to the Head of Department

The focus of the position is to:

• maintain hair, barbering and beauty salons
• maintain salon equipment and stock levels
• undertake reception duties as required by Hair and Beauty bar salon
• prepare and support hairdressing, barbering, makeup and beauty therapy educators to maintain quality educational delivery according to the relevant standards
• liaise with staff from across all relevant CIT departments

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain accurate and up to date stock control records. Record, rotate and issue stock supplies for Hairdressing, Barbering, Makeup and Beauty Therapy program areas using computerised system
• Maintain equipment in a serviceable and safe condition, service salons with appropriate resources, products, and equipment, including the laundering of linen to ensure appropriate standards are maintained for hair and beauty therapy classes
• Manage all WHS register and update reports accordingly
• Undertake reception duties as required by Hair and Beauty bar salon
• Apply CIT policy and principles in relation to Respect, Equity and Diversity, Workplace Health and Safety, and industrial democracy
• Maintain safe working conditions within work areas and classrooms and ensure safe disposal of hazardous materials, assist with maintaining sustainable salon processes

Eligibility/Other requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Sound understanding of the operations and role of an educational institution
• Sound knowledge of customer service requirements of Hairdressing, Barbering, Beauty Therapy and Makeup
• Sound knowledge of WHS procedures and reporting according to the ACT Government standards

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Hairdressing or beauty therapist qualification OR relevant experience and/or qualifications appropriate to performing the duties of the position are highly desirable

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is part-time at 30 hours per week and the full-time salary noted above will be pro-rata.
