About the Role
Reporting to the HSE Superintendent, the Hygiene Technician supports Nickel West operational sites to monitor and protect the health of our workforce, through delivering the site personal exposure monitoring program and assisting with the execution of health surveillance programs. This role has full accountability for executing personal hygiene monitoring and works with the onsite teams to deliver the audiometric and spirometry-based Health Surveillance Program. This is an exciting role supporting surface and underground mining, and processing operations. The position is primarily offered FIFO from Perth on a 7/7 roster but candidates who prefer a family friendly roster residing in Kalgoorlie will also be considered. Flexible work options are available to the right candidate.
In this role, you will be required to:
• Deliver the personal exposure monitoring program, consistent with the site’s Hygiene Management Plan, which includes real-time monitoring;
• Contribute to the execution of the site Health Surveillance program, through executing spirometry and audiometric assessment as per the site Health Surveillance schedule;
• Conducting 3M Earplug Fit Testing and Respirator Fit Tests;
• Managing health and hygiene data using Cority and Safety Regulation System (SRS)
• Promote and provide technical expertise to support the design and implementation of hygiene risk control improvements.
About You
To be successful in the Hygiene Technician role you will have a genuine desire to help people achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes; combined with a clear understanding of the role that the resources sector plays in health, hygiene and wellbeing management of our most important asset – our people.
You will have:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently but effectively in a cross-functional team
• Attention to detail and analytical capability
• Experience with Cority (formerly Medgate) would be desirable but not essential
• Experience with DMIRS Safety Regulation Safety (SRS) would be desirable but not essential

Nickel West is one of the most sustainable nickel producers in the world and the world's leading nickel supplier to the battery metals market and part of our Minerals Australia business. Nickel West is a fully integrated mine-to-market business operating in various locations across Western Australia. All nickel operations (open-cut and underground mines, concentrators, a smelter and refinery) are located in Western Australia.
