The Project
The M80 Ring Road Alliance (comprising ACCIONA, MACA, and AECOM) has been selected to design and construct the M80 Ring Road Completion.
The project will deliver a major upgrade of the M80 Ring Road between the M80-Plenty Road interchange and the North East Link tunnel entrance at Watsonia, providing a seamless connection to North East Link. Works includes 2km of new freeway upgrade, 3km of new freeway, separation of local roads from the freeway, bulk earthworks, retaining walls, bridge structures, rail interface works, intelligent transport systems, urban design and landscaping. This diverse and challenging project will be complete in 2028.
Key accountabilities for the position
Assist with the development and implementation of the Temporary Works procedures and processes
Oversea the management of the vetting and contractual engagement of Temporary Works designers and Temporary Works proof engineers.
Engage suitably qualified and experienced Temporary Works Designers to design the Temporary Works based on the best value proposition for the Alliance. Taking into consideration; resource availability, cost, program and the capability of the proposed Consultant(s)..
In conjunction with the Temporary Works Technical Lead support the Delivery Team in identifying Temporary Works requirements and developing solutions that enhance safety constructability and value for money.
Support the Temporary Works Technical Lead to ensure designs are developed with consideration to construction staging / methodology and that briefs accurately include all relevant constraints and requirements.
Engage suitably qualified Temporary Works designers to complete required designs
Where required engage suitably qualified and experienced Proof Engineer to check the design
Assist the Delivery Team to ensure that the application of the Temporary Works procedure is consistent and compliant.
Support the Temporary Works Technical Lead where the Temporary Works affect the permanent works, ensure that the effects are checked by the designer or the Temporary Works designer as appropriate.
Coordinate the interfaces between Temporary Works elements that are designed / provided by different organizations and retain an overview of the whole scheme
Required Skills and Competencies
Ideally You will have a tertiary qualification in engineering of similar
Excellent people leadership skills and experience in procuring and management of consultants
Experience working closely with construction teams in support of staging and planning for temp works
Highly developed planning and negotiation skills
