Located in Birkenhead, 14 km north west of Adelaide CBD, our client has a current opportunity for an entry level Terminal Operator and Wharf Attendant position. Experience in a bulk fuels facility or other oil and gas facilities preferred but not essential.

The PositionTerminal Operator
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Terminal Operator will perform routine activities required to run a bulk fuels facility which manages millions of litres of fuel per day.
These activities include but are not limited to:
- Operate and maintain all facets of measurement systems, subject to Company procedures. (meters, weigh scales, gauging, injector )
- Comply with all health and safety and regulatory legislation.
- Participate in scheduled operations and safety meetings
- Comply with all controls standards and procedures
- Conduct all site business with the mindset of safety and ensure 100% compliance with the documented operating and administrative procedures outlined in the PDM and participation in all elements of the Loss Prevention System.
- Work with other Company departments as required, assisting with operational and maintenance activities.
- Act as a member of the Site Emergency Response Team
- Support the mandates of both the Product Quality and Supply groups for the purposes of maintaining superior product quality and the efficient management and resolution of supply issues.
- Manages and coordinates contractors and drivers with respect to safety, orientation and compliance
These activities include but are not limited to:
- Performs random safety checks of the work site.
- Prepare wharf documentation prior to discharge activities.
- Ensure wharf has adequate slops ullage for planned discharge activities.
- Testing equipment is calibrated and in good working order.
- Open and close pipeline and loading arm valves.
- Manual connection and disconnect of loading arms.
- Undertake regular pipe line walks/inspections during discharge activities.
- Responsible for undertaking and maintaining product test result records.
The following qualities, skills and experience will be favourably considered:
- Experience in brownfield, heavy industry and major hazard facilities such as mining
- Tradesperson qualifications are highly valued
- Experience in a bulk liquid fuel facility or other oil and gas facilities
- Strong safety values with a sound team focus - you will be working in a hazardous environment
- Ability to work well in a team
- Self-starter who shows initiative
- Strong work ethic, enthusiasm and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail particularly in relation to documentation
- Sound organisational and time management skills
- Mechanical Aptitude
