Terminal Operator

Quantem is Australia’s largest independent chemical storage company with terminals across Australia and New Zealand. We deliver chemical storage solutions for both hazardous and non-hazardous products to a wide array of businesses and primary industries, for both import and export.

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Terminal Operator to join our Largs Bay site.

Reporting to the Terminal Site Leader, you will use your previous operational experience to perform all terminal operations including shipping and truck loading operations.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Perform all terminal operations including:
  • shipping
  • product transfers
  • tank gauging including stock level calculations
  • stock control
  • truck loading operations
  • operating control systems
  • loading of packaged goods
• Performing general tasks such as:
  • preventative maintenance
  • site and equipment inspection
  • site documentation
  • equipment set up and operation of mobile and stationary equipment.
  • Site house keeping
• Participate in LOTO/ PTW system as necessary.
•  Participating in prestart meetings
• Champion site safety
• Report and record all non-conformances, incidents, improvements and issues then ensure that all items are addressed within the defined timeframe.

To be considered for the position, candidates will possess:

• A trade qualification in a Mechanical/Technical field would be considered favorably.
• Working with documented Work Instructions and Procedures
• Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
• Previous experience in safety management systems (i.e., permit to work)
• Previous training in truck and ship loading/ unloading, wharf duties.
• Previous experience in Chemical handling facility operations
• Sound understanding of handling Dangerous Goods and Hazardous chemicals.
• Computer literacy
• Forklift licence
• Confined space training
• Ability to obtain MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card) requirements and Police check.
