Puma Energy is seeking a motivated and safety conscious individual to join our team as a Terminal/Production Operator for our Townsville Bitumen Manufacturing Facility. This role is responsible for safe and efficient operations, including stock receipt, storage, manufacture and load-out of saleable products, ensuring control of HSE and quality.
The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong focus on teamwork and commitment to safety, high attention to detail, and strong customer service and communication skills. You will play an integral role in helping us to maintain safe and reliable bitumen terminal operations.
This role is permanent full time working on a rotating shift pattern Monday to Friday so you need to be available to work shift work, including some additional work on weekends.

Key responsibilities include:
- the safe and efficient operation and monitoring of site control and gantry loading systems;
- the manufacture of various products to maintain customer supply including blending and batching;
- technical support and diagnosis of system faults to minimise downtime;
- stock receipt and storage, including shipping operations;
- developing, reviewing and managing operational procedures;
- conducting terminal inspections, basic maintenance and maintaining housekeeping standards;
- strong focus on HSE, reliability and product quality;
- focus on meeting customer expectations; and
- Laboratory testing and contractor management/coordination including permit to work systems.
Our ideal applicant will demonstrate:
- a knowledge of and commitment to safe working practices and systems, including permit to work;
- exposure to bitumen or similar industry;
- knowledge of relevant industry engineering and safety standards;
- Manual open driver's licence;
- Forklift licence;
- competence in using computer systems and software packages and ability to learn new systems;
- self-motivation with a drive to make improvements;
- problem solving and analytical skills;
- the ability to manage difficult and emergency situations calmly;
- the ability to work shift work, including some weekend work;
- ability to obtain MSIC; and
- proficiency in working collaboratively within a team.
As a preference, our ideal candidate may also have:
- a minimum of 5 years’ experience in automated/fixed plant
- experience in automated control systems
- Trade qualification or demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- relevant certifications such as: First Aid, Fire Warden, Confined Space, Working at Heights
- knowledge or experience with shipping and/or as a shore officer.
