Test & Development Engineer

About You 

Axxin is seeking an engineer with practical mechanical, electronics, or mechatronics experience to join our dynamic product team. 

This is a career position for a bright and enthusiastic candidate with 2 or more years of experience with good analytical and communication skills. A demonstrated approach to clear thinking and problem solving is required as well as the ability to fluently explain and navigate complex engineering concepts.

The successful candidate will be practical, well organised, self-motivated and enthusiastic about hands-on work with medical devices. 

If you have come from a hardware design or testing background this would be highly regarded. 

The Role

This is an exciting new opportunity in our Hardware Quality Team to join us in creating industry-leading products. 

In this role you will design and develop hardware prototypes, test rigs and other tools for medical devices.

The role includes researching and devising tests and test methodologies, as well as executing and documenting their outcomes. This role also includes exposure to metrology and maintenance of test equipment.

The role works within a team environment with specific focus on verification and validation testing of diagnostic instruments, and the systems that build them.

We are looking for someone to work alongside our product development groups, across both hardware and software domains to improve our products and ensure they meet strict functional, performance and quality requirements. 

At our office in Fairfield VIC, you will be working alongside a great team that is integral to our success. If you enjoy collaborative work, thinking through challenging problems, and finding ways to improve how we do things, then this role will suit you well.

The main activities you would perform include:

  • Developing and commissioning test rigs (using CAD, in-house rapid fabrication tools)
  • Designing test methods and methodologies for compliance with hardware requirements as well as external regulatory standards.
  • Analysis of device and hardware system requirements
  • Preparation and execution of test plans and protocols
  • Designing maintenance and validation plans for test equipment.
  • Performing calibration and maintenance activities on test equipment

Training and skill development will be provided in the following areas:

  • Instrument design and Development
  • Manufacturing methods and methodologies, including practical hands-on workshop experience (use of 3D printers, CNC machines, laser cutters, lathes, mills and other workshop equipment)
  • ISO13485 quality assurance standards
  • Software development

The role will develop your skills in hardware design and manufacture, as well as general quality assurance systems and procedures.

Professional Requirements

  • Excellent spoken and written English is essential.
  • Australian citizen or Australian Resident status must exist at time of application.
  • Have completed qualification(s) in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, similar tertiary technical expertise is also viewed favourably.
  • Demonstrated capability in engineering development, assembly, and testing.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in documentation and written communication.
  • Practical experience in mechanical and electrical prototyping and Development testing is strongly regarded.
  • Experience in regulatory or compliance testing and measurement calibration considered favourably.
