Based in Brisbane, the primary objective of the Test Automation Engineer is to perform software testing related activities to support application changes. The position is responsible for converting functional specification requirements into automated and manual test cases and contributing to the overall testing capability of the squad and broader IT Team. As part of a DevOps team, the role also involves implementing monitoring, logging and alerting solutions and responding to issues in our production systems.
To succeed in this role, you will be a highly motivated, passionate and ambitious team player who can adapt and change and seek to continually improve the way the Solution Delivery teams work using Agile and DevOps practices.
With honesty, integrity and respect, you will:
- Continuously grow the Test Automation and test coverage;
- Assist with any manual system, integration and regression testing when required;
- Capture and communicate system defects and test case failures;
- Collaborate and ideate with the engineering team to improve test practices and continuously improve the Test Automation frameworks and outcomes;
- Collaborate with business users, team members to deliver successful outcomes;
- Prepare documentation and user manuals to help the team and end users understand the system behaviour and functionality; and
- Contribute to the implementation of Test Automation scripts in CI/CD pipeline and publish test metrics to meet the expected test coverage.
What you’ll bring
As a Test Automation Engineer, you will demonstrate the following qualities:
- Experience in automation testing of large-scale business applications;
- Hands on experience using tools/frameworks such as NUnit, Cucumber, Jest, Puppeteer, SOAP UI, Postman, Selenium, and Cypress etc.;
- Development experience in writing test scripts using C#, NodeJs, Python, JavaScript or Typescript;
- Experience in developing modular and reusable components to adapt to the complex application architectures;
- Experience in writing automation test script for API’s and Web applications;
- Experience around AWS services and knowledge in adopting to the CI/CD and DevOps practices;
- Experience in tools such as JIRA, Confluence and Zephyr (or other test management tools);
- Experience in load and performance testing using JMeter or equivalent;
- Experience in security testing would be beneficial;
- Knowledge around TSQL, SQL Procedure/Functions and Powershell scripting;
- Demonstrated working knowledge of testing methodologies within Agile;
- Well-developed problem solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to solve problems in a measured and creative way;
- An approachable and co-operative attitude to work; and
- Experience in the Energy industry would be beneficial.
