Test Automation Specialist

Abotu the role:

This role is responsible for building frameworks, development, implementation, execution, maintenance and optimisation of agreed testing plans and automation scripts for specific projects and/or products for the Trading Technology Team and other business units. Additionally, maintenance of appropriate test standards and processes is paramount thus the role is expected to contribute to this activity and coach team members accordingly.

Qualifications and skills

Must have:

• At least five years of experience in automated software testing as part of product delivery
• At least ten years of experience in software testing generally as part of product delivery
• At least four years of experience with customer engagement and management
• Degree level qualification in IT or Engineering or relevant industry experience
• Experience in integration and end-to-end testing.

Nice to have:

• Experience using Playwright is highly desirable
• Experience in testing both web and WPF applications
• Experience with API testing tools like Postman and Swagger
• Experience in continuous integration tools like Azure DevOps
• Automated testing in support of business UAT and associated processes
• Knowledge of Energy / Gas Trading, Risk and Settlement systems.

Experience and knowledge:

• Experience defining strategies and implementing long-term solutions for Test Automation including roadmap, tools, framework and approach in collaboration with project teams and business stakeholders
• Experience in working through all the phases of software testing lifecycle, from requirement analysis, test design to test closure
• Experience in building Test Automation frameworks
• Experience in automation script development, execution, maintenance, and optimisation of those scripts
• Experience in integrating automation in CI/CD Pipelines to ensure continuous development and integration
• Experience working in an agile delivery framework and applying DevOps methodologies
• Experience with using Azure DevOps as test / defect management software
• Position Profile – Test Analyst
• Experience tailoring test plans, test cases and scripts to meet project / product specific delivery needs
• Executing test plans for both “out of box” and in-house developed solutions and defect management
• Experience with test summary reporting and test closure reporting
• Successfully implementing and executing test plans and capturing and managing test results
• Mentoring and coaching team members in software development activities and processes
• Ability to instil confidence in the business and demonstrate the business value of IT
• Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies and how other enterprises are employing them
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with client, at all levels, and third parties (business & development partner and Infrastructure teams)
• Demonstrated experience as member of/working closely with a software development team (including test case development and execution within a sprint).
