Our client has one of the most recognisable names in power & energy, and is a formidable force across Transmission, Distribution, and Substation projects both greenfield and brownfield. As a Test & Commissioning Engineer, you will lead site-based commissioning activities for substation construction & upgrade projects covering both primary and secondary systems/equipment.
You will be managing the pre-commissioning/commissioning process for several projects throughout NSW that tie into the major transmission network, which is all part of the future energy transition in our great country. Your day to day duties will include but are not limited to:
- Pre-commissioning and commissioning of primary and secondary system of High Voltage Substations up to 275kv - 500kV
- Creation of Inspection & Test Plans for Primary and Secondary plant for Factory (FAT) and Site acceptance testing (SAT)
- Secondary injection testing of numerical protection relays, Complete Testing of Transformer, CT, VT, Circuit
- Secondary system design for HV & LV protection and circuitry
- Report on progress each week to Senior Managers and the project team
- Ensure technical queries are managed in accordance with process and procedures
- Coordinate stakeholders during the commissioning execution process
- Prepare or review commissioning reports as required from all site based commissioning activities
- Take part in supervising and site management during the construction phase of the Electrical works (depending on the project)
- The coordination with clients to carry out the electrical assets energisation and post commissioning verification's.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent acceptable for membership of Institution of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category
- Electrical Tradesman – Electrical Fitter/Mechanic
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ) – desirable
- High Voltage Switching Certification (National Accreditation) – desirable
- Drivers Licence
- CPR & Switchboard Rescue
- Assist in managing the client's expectations and provide the solution for any changes to rules.
- You must be a specialist in pre-commissioning and commissioning of primary and secondary systems.
- You will propose ideas of improvement for data/documentation and possess strong technical knowledge of High Voltage assets, including operation, construction, and maintenance practices.
- Detailed knowledge of the regulatory, legislative, and standards that apply.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
- You must be open and willing to all travel required to various sites and locations, and to the Sydney office (when not on site).
- Must have full Australian working rights coupled with 3 + years of experience commissioning Australian substations.
