Your Main Duties
As a Theatre Nurse, you will work both independently and in collaboration with multidisciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your duties will include:
- Conducting pre-operative assessments to gather patient information, including medical history, allergies, and any potential risks or complications related to anaesthesia or surgery
- Providing information about the upcoming surgery, including what to expect before, during, and after the procedure, and answering any questions or concerns patients and their families may have
- Assisting with patient preparation and ensuring the patient is ready for surgery
- Collaborating with the surgical team to ensure a safe and efficient operating room environment
- Maintaining strict aseptic techniques to create and maintain a sterile field during surgery
- Acting as a patient advocate during surgery by ensuring patient safety, comfort, and wellbeing
- Assisting with the transfer of the patient from the operating room to the post-anaesthesia care unit or recovery area and providing initial post-operative care
- Current registration with AHPRA, with no restrictions
- National Crime Check, or willingness to obtain
- Working with Children's Check, or willingness to obtain
- Experience in Theatre Nursing
