About the role
As a Theatre Technician Grade 1 at Grampians Health, you will play a critical role in our Operating Suite at the Ballarat Campus. This position involves directly assisting Surgeons and Anaesthetists, performing patient transport, and ensuring the maintenance of high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in line with hospital protocols. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the perioperative services delivered are safe, effective, and compassionate, reflecting our commitment to high-quality healthcare.This is a fixed term contract for 5 months.Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing for and managing operative procedures by providing direct support to surgeons and anaesthetists.
  • Maintain strict adherence to hygiene and sterility protocols, including cleaning and preparing equipment and environments.
  • Perform patient transport duties within the facility, ensuring patient safety and dignity.
  • Monitor and report any issues with the functionality of equipment, adhering to the facility's maintenance protocols.
  • Engage actively in ongoing professional development and participate in quality improvement activities within the department.
  • Comply with all organisational policies, including health and safety guidelines and risk management frameworks.
Skills and experience
  • Educational Background: Completion of Year 12 is desirable, along with a demonstrated commitment to ongoing education in a relevant field.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with operating suite protocols and equipment. Previous experience in a healthcare setting is highly regarded.
  • Professional Abilities: Capable of maintaining high standards of care and adhering to strict protocols in a fast-paced environment.
  • Personal Attributes: Strong commitment to providing compassionate patient care, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
