Looking for a fulfilling career that will make a real difference in the lives of children and young people? Join our team in Canberra as a Therapeutic Support Worker today!

Company Overview:

Striive Care is passionate about its people! Our mission is to create a workplace environment that not only respects but also empowers individuals to realise their full potential. Our services are designed to provide high-quality care to children and young people, individuals with disabilities, and those with mental illness. We prioritise inclusivity, collaboration, and growth in everything we do. We work closely with families, caregivers, and communities to create a nurturing environment that promotes the growth and well-being of children and young people, ensuring their safety and nurturing their independence.

About the role:

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, your role will involve providing trauma-informed care to children and young people with high care needs. Your primary objective will be to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that helps each child and young person develop daily life skills, achieve educational goals, participate in extracurricular activities, and maintain connections with their family and community. We are looking for individuals with a strong background in community service to join our team.

Our services operate on a 24/7 roster model, which means that successful candidates will be required to work a range of shifts, including weekends, active nights, and public holidays.

About you:

You work well both independently and as part of a team.

Skills required:

  • You can build rapport with children and young people while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • You possess the ability to manage difficult situations and behaviours and can de-escalate them in a therapeutic manner.
  • You are committed to providing client-focused services that result in positive outcomes.
  • You are respectful, empathetic and demonstrate compassion towards others.
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are proficient in using technology and systems to meet compliance requirements.
  • You are a team player.

To apply for this role, you will need the following:

  • Australian Drivers Licence with no restrictions
  • Comprehensive Car Insurance
  • Working with Vulnerable Persons Check
  • National Police Check conducted within 12 months
  • International Police Check (if applicable)
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Record

Desired:

  • Medication Administration Training Certificate
  • Cultural Awareness Training Certificate
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid Certificate
  • Crisis De-escalation Training Certificate
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training Certificate

Benefits:

  • Opportunities for internal and external professional development
  • A genuine focus on employee health and wellbeing
  • Access to free and confidential counselling sessions for you and members of your immediate family
  • An environment that genuinely values diversity and cultural capability and is an equal-opportunity employer
