We are currently looking for a qualified Therapy Assistant to join our supportive team at Bert England Lodge Aged Care Home located in Rockingham on a casual basis. Bert England Lodge is a 44 bed facility offering dementia care as well as respite, located close to Rockingham General Hospital.
We are looking for someone with a passion for working with people of all abilities and backgrounds. Our Therapy Assistants have an enthusiastic and creative approach to their work and are able to support our residents’ strengths and interests.
An important component of this role is the ability to work autonomously and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions independently. You will be able to work under the guidance of a therapist, while also being confident in using your initiative and creative thinking to ensure sessions run smoothly. We are looking for someone who thrives in a role where every day is different, and who are passionate about supporting meaningful engagement with people of all abilities.
About the role
- Implement therapy and lifestyle programs for groups and individual residents
- Adapt activities to resident’s level of function under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist
- Address physical and psychological needs and provide opportunities for meaningful engagement for residents
- Maintain accurate documentation, both paper and computer based
- Previous experience in a Therapy Assistant role, ideally in an aged care or other health care environment (desirable)
- Certificate III (or equivalent) in Allied Health Assistance
- Experience working with residents with dementia would be an advantage
- Ability to communicate clearly in both a verbal and written capacity with care recipients, families and team members
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
- Well-developed literacy and numeracy skills with a strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated skills with technology/devices/computer programs that are intended for therapy benefits
- Willingness to uphold the vision, mission and values of The Bethanie Group
- A current first aid certificate, or willingness to obtain one
- A current police clearance, or willingness to obtain one
- NDIS worker’s screening check, or willingness to obtain one
- Current vaccinations – 3x covid and annual flu vaccination
