Tangentyere Employment Services (TES) is a Division of TCAC. TES delivers the Australian Government’s Community Development Program (CDP) for the Alice Springs Town Camps, Amoonguna, and some surrounding Outstations.
The Time to Work Employment Services (TWES) Consultant works within the Employment & Retention Team (E&R) to deliver the Time to Work Employment Services Program for Indigenous Inmates of the Alice Springs Corrections Centre (ASCC).
The TWES Consultant works as a guide, coach, and advocate, working with a pre-release Indigenous prisoners at the Alice Springs Corrections Centre (ASCC) to develop a unique transition plan that provides the post release Employment Service Provider (ESP) with an outline of a pathway for the job seeker.
The plan identifies the vocational and non-vocational barriers the individual requires on-going support with, in order to overcome barriers and enter into sustainable training and/or employment. Employment and participation activities may include community participation such as cultural activities, work experience, training, mentoring and activities that support economic development of the community.
The TES service model is designed to maximise job seekers’ choice and control of their pathway to employment. The TWES Consultant supports the job seeker to navigate their pathway, drawing on the range of resources and connections in our wrap around model and using strengths-based assessment approach.
The TWES Consultant’s role is to provide employment assistance as defined by the Funding Agreement. This includes using an integrated case management system to service a caseload of jobseekers by:
• Assessing the job seekers’ strengths as well as their barriers to employment,
• Identifying appropriate employment and participation activities to prepare for employment,
• Monitoring participation and progress in activities, and
• Helping commence and retain employment, education, or training activities.
The TWES Consultant focuses on the job seeker’s abilities and aspirations and works to directly connect each person with the right providers, employers, and services available in the community to meet their identified needs. The TWES Consultant will work with a caseload of pre-release indigenous prisoners at the ASCC.
