The Museum has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic professional to join the Commercial and Enterprise Operations team in the role of Tourism and Projects Manager. This position sits within the Commercial Operations and Enterprise business unit. Along with the Program Manager you will be responsible for delivering and driving the Museum’s commercial and tourism strategy and objectives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving tourism engagement strategies for the Museum across the broad and established network of tourism partners, as well as engaging with and extending this network. The successful candidate will also assist the Head of Program in managing Tourism initiatives which could include various project deliverables across the unit, including tourism, venue hire, catering, retail operations and events. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across Museum business units in designing and delivering Tourism and events products that provide both excellent visitor experience and commercial benefit to the Museum’s financial deliverables.
As a Tourism and/or events professional with a breadth of project management experience, you will be pivotal in continuing to position the Museum as one of Canberra’s top tourism attractions and ensuring continual financial returns through tourism Strategy and programming.
The successful candidate for this position will have exceptional organisational skills, representational and exceptional numeracy skills with a strong attention to detail. You will work in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift, therefore your ability to be flexible and adapt to change is paramount. You will have the capacity to operate with minimal supervision, being comfortable with making decisions and problem solving.
You will have demonstrated experience managing priorities to achieve successful outcomes. The incumbent will need the ability to negotiate, have a high level of liaison skills and enjoy meeting a range of people. You will have the ability to successfully build and maintain relationships with Corporate and Tourism partners and a variety of stakeholders including those from different cultural backgrounds.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate high-level written communication skills, including the ability to analyse issues and develop quality documentation. You will have the capacity to work collaboratively, create and innovate our products and deliver high-quality results, then align to the Strategic priorities of the NMA. You will represent the Museum domestically and internationally, dealing with complex matters and advancing the Museum’s commercial interests.
