About the Role:
The primary focus of this role is to support the product sold through the Company by responsibly assisting in carrying out service, maintenance and repairs of earthmoving machinery as instructed by the Tradesperson to a satisfactory standard of quality workmanship and in a timely manner.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:
Functional Objectives
- Ensure safety goals are achieved through personal commitment, no harm to self or others and participation in safety initiatives

- Pro-actively seek and maintain collaborative working relationships with peers and manager to deliver results
- Ensure opportunities for continuous improvement are identified and reported utilising the
- Caterpillar Production System (CPS) methodology’s
- Submit accurate service reports, time cards, parts request sheets, parts quotes teardown reports and time required guides (TRG) as required on applicable repair jobs instructed by Leading Hand
- Ensure time cards are completed on a daily basis, detailing job numbers, accurate details of work performed and hours worked. At all times where possible, time cards and service reports are countersigned by the customer and a copy left with him/her
- Ensure service report SIMS and repair detail information is entered directly into a work order via SPI or via and electronic medium as advised by Leading Hand
- Assist in performing quality service, maintenance and repairs on all equipment sold and/or serviced by the Company as directed by a Tradesperson or immediate supervisor
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure that assigned tasks are free of faulty workmanship assuring quality in the finished product
- Ensure repairs are carried out using the appropriate control guidelines to ensure that rework jobs do not occur. This is to include check sheets, quality control procedures and guidelines for reusable parts
- Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within required target times
- Research to ensure that the latest or improved parts as fitted/used on each job
- Ensure Tool Store Attendant is advised of any tools removed from the tool store and these are signed for even when taken outside normal tool store hours
- Ensure all tools are returned to tool store in a clean condition immediately after use. All damages to be reported to Leading Hand and Tool Store Attendant
- Ensure Tool Store Attendant and Leading Hand are notified when tools issued are in an unserviceable condition
- Ensure tools are not damaged due to unsafe work methods or misuse
- Ensure no tool loss occurs of tools issued
To be successful for this role you will need the following:
- Minimum two years’ experience in a comparable role within the mechanical or similar heavy industry
- Year 10 Certificate or Year 12 completion
- High Risk Forklift Licence
- Certificate II in Engineering (Mechanical)
- Occupational Health & Safety courses
- Valid 'Class C' Driver's Licence
- Relevant licences for overhead gantry crane and dogging
- Competent to perform medium level welding, painting and mechanical task
- Skills to work safely & move components / parts without damage to self, others & the components / parts equipment
- Skills to communicate effectively in a workshop environment while working with others including Tradespersons & Leading Hands
- Adaptability to all sections and tasks required
- A need to learn and continually improve
- Ability to resolve daily / regular job requirement problems
- A high focus on cleanliness and contamination control
