Schlam have two exciting opportunities for experienced Trade Assistants to join our world-class manufacturing facility at Forrestfield.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Workshop Superintendent, our Trade Assistants will take the lead to ensure our Forrestfield Workshop is maintained to a high standard and ensures its operational safety standard at all times.
The daily responsibility of the Trade Assistant is to undertake general workshop and yard duties and maintain workshop cleanliness. You will be motivated and friendly, and enjoy working independently, and able to operate within company guidelines. You will have the full support of the Workshop team and wider Schlam business.
This position is offered as permanent full-time – Monday to Saturday working up to 66 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with keeping the yard neat and well organised at all times.
- Moving, sorting and preparing parts for fabrication, movement of part around the Workshops.
- Ensuring the worksite and associated equipment is clean, safe, tidy and ready for use in the Workshop
- Maintaining operational safety of the warehouse and reporting any issues
- Safe operation of power tools and machines such as forklifts, overhead cranes, Scissor lifts and other automotive equipment to transport materials or supplies.
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Current ‘C’ Class drivers’ license
- Current Forklift ticket with a minimum of one years’ experience
- HRW – Dogman (desirable)
- Competency in using an overhead crane
- A strong work ethic including punctuality and a self-starter
- Good communication
