The candidate is expected to work independently with periodic supervision by senior Project Engineer and Electrical / Power Engineering specialists and is responsible to work through trade off studies in the area of transitioning from a permanent power station to temporary power supplies. This position also requires the candidate to work closely with existing mine site team - Electrical (Power) Subject Mater Experts and specialist 3rd party engineers, project estimators and planners to deliver best for customer the options for the closure and rehabilitation of a mine site.
The candidate should be self-motivated, including, but not limited to, the recommendation to project management based on the acquisition of power demands required for the existing plant and through to mine closure.
About the role:
- Operational supervision and technical guidance from a Project Engineer / Supply Chain Manager / Subject Matter Experts for the technology.
- Supervision from the Project Engineer to ensure that the scope objectives are defined and results are measurable and can be reviewed.
- Define and manage the electrical engineering design for the rehabilitation process through the engineering service providers. Including co-ordination and integration of supporting documentation into a Feasibility Study update, as guided by the Project Engineer, to the agreed scope and as guided by the Project Engineering Manager and Project Manager.
- Act as the conduit between the project team and the engineering service providers to manage the interfaces and technical compliance with the project specifications and required deliverables.
- Coordinates with various subject matter experts as assigned.
- Maintain contact with the clients' representatives, subject matter experts, equipment and package suppliers, construction personnel and other disciplines to ensure the coordination of your assigned scope and in compliance with Bechtel/ and the client requirements.
What you bring:
- A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, from an accredited college or university, OR professional license in an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline, from a recognized licensing board, AND
- Broad progressive work experience in design engineering, science or other relevant types of engineering activities supporting systems start-up, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or within other engineering/construction firms
- Solid experience in reviewing operating power stations, with skills in transitioning to temporary power systems
- Experience and/or knowledge of operations in the mining / mineral processing industry working on EPCM / EPC projects / operations with a working knowledge of mining or mineral process project related industrial Australian codes, and standards.
- Knowledge of engineering workflow process, and experience in co-ordinating and managing activities and interfaces required with other disciplines.
- An open communication style that demonstrates a positive manner, confidence and with a focus on client requirements. This would include being comfortable coordinating with client representatives to obtain their approval on phases of work and supporting their review/response of deliverables in a timely manner.
- The ability to review significant bid summaries, major drawings and staffing estimates and schedules.
- Effective problem-solving skills, with a strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify underlying principles or facts, then draw conclusions and recommend paths forward which are cost effective and meet client / rehabilitation requirements.
- The capability to proactively plan, develop, coordinate, and review engineering work from a multi-disciplinary interface level that affect assigned packages.
- Ability to manage engineering schedules for assigned packages to meet the overall key project milestones and project schedule.
- Experience in definition and execution of Scope Optimisation and Value Engineering studies or activities to deliver increased project value, reducing cost and optimising schedules.
- Co-ordination skills to assist the vendor and internal engineering disciplines to achieve key milestones in a project such as Design Reviews, HAZID, HAZOP and Safety in Design (SiD) studies
- Knowledge of Engineering Processes and able to learn Bechtel Department Procedures (EDPs), Design Guides, applicable Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
