ABOUT THE JOB
This Traineeship is a 2-year program, where we will support you to complete a Certificate IV in Business Administration. As the Trainee Administration Officer, you will gain technical knowledge, develop valuable office and administration skills, and gain hands on experience.
Along with the full list of duties in the Position Statement, Council will support you to undertake a range of administrative and customer service duties associated with Council’s recruitment, early careers and diversity, equity and belonging functions. The role provides support in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that requires a high attention to detail, organisation, timeliness, confidentiality and strong interpersonal skills, while placing the customer at the centre of everything we do. Training will be provided both on-the-job and online. Candidates who have completed a Certificate IV in Business or higher will not be eligible to apply.
The position is located at Council’s Administrative Office at Speers Point and may involve travel to multiple areas within Lake Macquarie. You will be required to work 35 hours per week Monday to Friday. Paid study time will be provided within your standard work hours.

WHAT WE OFFER
- Receive a wage whilst studying towards a qualification starting from $802.38 per week plus 12 per cent superannuation.
- Receive a wage increase of 3.5% from 8 July 2024
- Payment of all course fees.
- Paid time during work hours to study and attend compulsory classes.
- Yearly pay reviews and increases based on work and study performance.
- 35 hour working week with flexible nine-day fortnight arrangement.
- Four weeks paid annual leave.

ABOUT YOU
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and organised people-person who enjoys customer service and has a strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask, take initiative and a passion for working in a fast-paced environment.
Specifically, you will have:
- Successful completion of year 12/HSC or equivalent.
- Commitment to providing high-quality customer experience.
- Can work both autonomously and collaboratively to support multiple teams.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Experience working in an office environment is desirable.
- An interest in recruitment and human resources is desirable.
- Completion of a Cert 3 in Business or similar is advantageous.
- Willingness to undertake the required qualification online and within the term of the traineeship.
