Trainee Avian Veterinary Nurse

Part-time Trainee or Qualified Veterinary Nurse (Birds)

Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic, a long-established, specialist, birds-only veterinary clinic in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne requires a part-time (average around 16 hours per week) trainee or qualified Veterinary Nurse to join our 5 vet, 4 nurse team. You will need a passion for working with pet birds and their owners, the position will involve both vet nursing and reception duties and there will be periods when you are in sole charge. 

Applicants are expected to have successfully completed Year 12 and hold a driver’s licence. You should be bright and outgoing, have good communication and computer skills, common sense, a good work ethic and love working with birds and people. Prior experience in working with birds and/or in a veterinary setting and/or Cert IV in Vet Nursing would be an advantage. We would/could adjust rosters to allow you to undertake the vet nursing course if needed, the position could suit someone considering career change.

You should be able to start as soon as possible, and you would need to be able to work a rotating weekend roster (roughly every 2-3 weekends), as well as regular weekday shifts.
