About the role:
Our Environment & Health team has an exciting opportunity available for either a Trainee (currently studying in a relevant course) OR a recent Graduate (recently graduated) to join the team on a temporary 12-month fixed term period. This position will provide you with the opportunity for on-going training and continue your career development in all aspects of public and Environmental Health compliance related activities in both the built and natural environment.
Duties include:
Assist in the investigation, assessment & resolution of customer requests lodged regarding environmental public health matters;
Assist in undertaking inspections of businesses undertaking activities related to public health matters such as food/skin penetration premises;
Assist in the assessment of S68 applications under Local Government Act such as onsite sewage management systems (operation & installation), structures within caravan parks & installation of solid fuel heaters;
Assist in the review of Development Applications referred with consideration given to issues on environment & public health;
Assist in the assessment of relevant technical reports & documents, in particular acoustic reports, onsite disposal of effluent, contamination/salinity, electromagnetic radiation and the like;
Assist in preparing standards, codes, information & fact sheets on various public health & Environmental Health matters;
Assist in the development & promotion of community health & environmental educational materials & programs.
About you:
To be considered for this role you will have:
Enrolment in OR recently completed tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health, Environmental Science or similar discipline;
Relevant knowledge of matters relating to Environmental & Public Health;
Team player, high level of attention to detail, ability to analyse problems & find solutions;
Current Class C Motor Vehicle License.
Position details:
Temporary full-time (12 months fixed term) Trainee role, Salary: Circa/From $59.5k + Superannuation OR
Temporary full-time (12 months fixed term) Graduate role, Salary: Circa/From $70.5k + Superannuation
