About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant Trainee who will be accountable to the Science Coordinator for contributing to the effective and efficient operations of our science laboratories. The role involves providing a range of laboratory and administrative tasks to enhance educational outcomes for our students.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Contribute to the effective day to day operation and integrity of the science faculty.
• Contribute to the effective and efficient administrative functions of the laboratories.
• Liaise with staff at all levels across the agency, and external stakeholders.
• Provide a consistent and effective customer service.

To be successful you will need:

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with adults and young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Comfort working with students, teachers, and external agencies from various backgrounds.
• Capability to work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrate initiative, prioritize workloads, and achieve outcomes within agreed timelines.
• An interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM).

Special Conditions:

The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:

Trainee: $15,337 - $39,647 per annum.

Additional Note:

This is a 24-month full-time traineeship, and the trainee will undertake a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills.
