Trainee (Cadet) Building Surveyor (Private Building Certification)
McCarthy Consulting Group Pty Ltd (MCG) is well established professional building surveying consultancy providing building certification & regulations compliance, accessibility compliance to a range of clients throughout Queensland and New South Wales. MCG is looking to appoint a Trainee Building Surveyor (Cadet) that wishes to focus on Class 2-9 buildings throughout both states and be part of a highly respected and professional team.
The Position
- The first 6 months will be front-of-house liaison services and administrative and operational coordination services.
- Preparation of documents, letters and contracts (including producing construction / complying development and occupation certificates for all classes of buildings, Building Permits and Certificate of Occupancy).
- File creation and contract management.
- Project data management (including downloading, filing, scanning and printing of documents).
- Client liaison via (written and verbal communication)
- Progressively acquire knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and other legislation relative to building development.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, pay attention to detail and provide a professional and courteous attitude when liaising with clients to focus upon and expand established client relationships. Time management & organisational skills, an ability to prioritise, implement instructions and complete tasks unsupervised and in a timely manner whilst working as part of a team is essential.
Our selection criteria for this position will include:
- The successful applicant will have completed or be enrolled to complete qualifications relevant to Building Certification (eg. Graduate Diploma in Building Surveying, Bachelor in Construction Management).
- Demonstrated interest in building control including an understanding of the Building Code of Australia and willingness to broaden this knowledge
A valid Australian driver’s licence. - Attention to detail: to identify any issues on plans and on-site inspections.
- Good computer skills: Ability to use online systems for all aspects of the job.
- Good time management: many projects can be time sensitive.
- Accountability: you will need to take responsibility for your tasks.
- Strong ethics: to ensure that laws and regulations are adhered to
