About the role
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for driving excellence in Training and Competency? AGL Loy Yang is looking for an exceptional Training & Competency Manager to lead our Training & Competency (T&C) team through innovative strategies and transformative initiatives. This is a critical role where you will make a significant impact on the Loy Yang site.

What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Head of Risk and Assurance, you will:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and coaching to ensure a high-performing team culture that fosters collaboration.
  • Build strong relationships across various Loy Yang businesses, regularly reporting on T&C initiatives to leadership teams.
  • Provide advice on Training and Competency Best Practice and Industry Training.
  • Implement the Technical Competency (T&C) Standard and HSE Training & Competency Methodology.
  • Lead the T&C team in: Training Needs Analyses, Training Gap Analysis, Training Plans, Verification of Competency, T&C reviews and audits, managing training improvement projects, Registered Training Organisation (RTO) reviews and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with P&C Digital to optimise Workday Learning.
  • Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment systems and AGL standards.
  • Support leaders with skills development programs aligned with business strategy.
  • Implement a workforce transition skills strategy for Loy Yang's evolving future.

About you
What you'll bring to the table

  • Sound knowledge of the Australian Training and Qualifications Framework.
  • Strong leadership experience in coaching and mentoring a team.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems and proven ability to facilitate training/workshops.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing Training Needs Analysis, Training Matrices, and Verification of Competency.
  • Experience in conducting Training and Competency reviews and audits.
  • Background in workforce skills development and transition programs.
  • Significant experience in an industrial environment, such as Mining, Energy, or Manufacturing.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Training, Education, Cert IV in Training and Assessment, or extensive experience in a Training and Competency role.
