Job description

The Aviation Capability Group is experiencing significant growth and to due to this growth, we are seeking an experienced Training and Checking Aircrew Officer looking for their next challenge to support our Rotary Wing operations. Our team of highly trained personnel provides aeromedical retrievals, search and rescue and law enforcement support. You will facilitate and conduct high quality training and checking to support QPS aviation operations.

Permanent position based in Archerfield.

• Check and Training - Crew Officer - 8.5% of an Aircrew Officer paypoint 6 salary - approximately $9,910 per annum
• Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Allowance - $3,442.40 per annum
• Fitness Level 1 - Crew Officer - 2% of an Aircrew Officer paypoint 6 salary - approximately $2,332 per annum

The ACG is experiencing significant growth and to due to this growth, we are seeking an experienced Training and Checking Aircrew Officer looking for their next challenge. Our team of highly trained personnel provides aeromedical retrievals, search and rescue and law enforcement support. You will facilitate and conduct high quality training and checking to support QPS aviation operations. Permanent position based in Archerfield.

Key Accountabilities

Your Key Accountabilities will include:

• Develop, coordinate & deliver Training & Checking for all Aircrew/Rescue Crew Officer & Medical Transport/Task Specialist.
• Maintain records of crew currency & recency in all operational roles & coordinate Training & currency requirements in a timely manner.
• Assist the Chief Aircrew Officer to ensure the Operations Manual requirements for Crew are compliant.
• Assist with the development of long-term planning & coordination of training for crew.
• Liaison with, & education of, other emergency services personnel (including medical transport specialist) as required and in compliance with the CASR's for the seamless delivery of service.
• Perform the operational and administrative responsibilities of the Senior Aircrew Officer during absences of the Townsville, Cairns and Archerfield Based, Senior Aircrew Officer.
• Conduct rostered Aircrew duties at any of Townsville, Cairns or Archerfield bases in accordance with the Operations Manual as required.

Mandatory requirements:

• Current CASA Class 1 or 2 Medical.
• Have held a Bronze Medallion Life Saving Qualification.
• Current Senior First Aid certificate.
• Certificate IV in Aviation Aircrew Officer.
• 1500 hours rotary wing aeronautical experience as an Aircrew Officer.
• Qualification - Competence in Helicopter winching and rappelling operations.
• CASA approval as an Aircrew Training Officer within six months of appointment.
• Current certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment within six months of appointment.
• CASA approval as a Rotary Wing Night Vision Goggle Aircrew Member Instructor within six months of appointment.
• Possession of a C class licence.

Highly desirable:

• Previous Rotary Wing Instructor Experience AW 139/B412.
• Rotary Wing Night Vision Goggle Aircrew Member Instructor experience.
• 250 hours rotary wing aeronautical experience as an instructor or Training and Checking.
• Previous Training and Management experience.
• Instructor Sling Operations.
• HABD/HUET Training experience.
• FLIR Instructor experience.
• Rope/Rappel Instructor experience.
• Rescue Swimmer Instructor experience.
• Instructor Experience Boat operations, life raft deployment.
• Understanding of computer-based recency/currency programs, Air Maestro/AIMS/PEX.

Special Conditions

Applicants must pass the Aircrew Officer Physical Fitness test comprising of:

1. 400m swim in under 10 minutes; and either of the following options
2. Completion of the Rockport Fitness Walk Test (1.6km walk) with the minimum standard being a ‘Good' assessment on the Rockport calculator

A probation period of 6-months applies to this position
