Cutler Merz is looking for a talented and Experienced Consultant (Senior Consultant, Manager or Associate Principal dependant on experience) to play a pivotal role in our Transmission & Distribution Advisory team. About You
You are a skilled industry professional in the power and energy sector with significant experience working in a fast-paced environment, preferably within a consultancy practice. You will have worked with electricity transmission and distribution businesses with experience in areas including design, engineering, asset management, planning, and operations. You have a track record of delivering high quality work and meeting deadlines.

Your core skill set includes project management, techno-economic analysis, exceptional written and verbal communication, and stakeholder management. You lead and develop approaches to critically analyse problems in a methodical manner to inform decision making. The Opportunity
As a senior consultant at CutlerMerz, you will:
- Apply analytical approaches and tools to solve problems, with the ability to offer insight and recommendations, backed by clear evidence.
- Develop quantitative and qualitative analysis to support client decision-making through the preparation of strategic analysis such as, business cases, cost benefit analysis, and economic impact assessments.
- Operate as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, delivering high quality, client presentable reports and documents.
- Lead project teams collaboratively, across CutlerMerz and our clients, to deliver actionable advice and guide implementation of change.
- Work collaboratively to develop pursuit plans, proposals and other business development activities.
- Manage and mentor junior team members.
Ideally you’ll have:
- An analytical degree, in the fields of engineering, maths, or sciences.
- At least 7+ years of experience in the energy sector.
- Demonstrated aptitude and appetite for using structured problem-solving and analysis to solve client issues, and clarity in explaining methods and concepts.
- A strong working knowledge of the energy sector in Australia, in particular transmission and distribution networks, and the current challenges of the sector, and understanding of how the sector needs to transition.
- A good technical understanding of the electricity generation sector and key issues affecting each technology.
- An entrepreneurial mindset and passion about opportunities for growth and change.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills, including presenting qualitative and quantitative data.
- A deadline orientation, with strong project management expertise.
- A personable and professional approach, with excellent communication and presentation skills and an effective team player.
