Transport Manager

Develop and execute strategic plans to optimise transportation operations and achieve company objectives.

• Provide leadership and direction to the transportation team, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
• Oversee transportation operations, including fleet management, routing, scheduling, and dispatching.
• Monitor and manage transportation resources to ensure efficient utilization and cost-effectiveness.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders to enhance service delivery and satisfaction.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to transportation operations.
• Cover necessary shifts in driver absence and shift opportunities to upkeep our customer commitments.

Assist the operations manager with equipment movements for fleet maintenance.

• Implement and utilise transportation management systems (TMS) and other technology solutions to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
• Recruit, train, and develop transportation staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Provide coaching and feedback to team members to enhance performance and productivity.
• Develop contingency plans and procedures to address transportation disruptions and emergencies.
• Ensure readiness to respond effectively to unexpected events that may impact operations.
• Promote and implement sustainable transportation practices to minimise environmental impact.

• Minimum of 2 years in a managerial role within the transportation or logistics industry, with a proven track record of success in managing operations, budgets, and personnel.
• Deep understanding of transportation regulations, logistics processes, and supply chain management principles.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience in leading and motivating a diverse team.

Ability to make strategic decisions and drive operational excellence.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Proficient in identifying challenges, analysing data, and developing effective solutions to improve efficiency and service quality.
• Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), fleet management software, and other relevant technology solutions.
• Prior hands on experience driving and working within the industry, preferably holding a valid Australian HC/MC driver’s license.
