Primary Focus
Work with the machinery team to drive trucks (HGV, Semi rigid, single axel), vans, harvest trucks, transporting fruit and farm goods within the farm and to distribution centres. Working with harvest and non harvest team to deliver equipment as required to different farm locations. Improve performance, quality, cost, cycle time, and efficiencies in transport, machinery and vehicle movements. Provide practical support and mechanical advice to machinery team. Ensure the wider business operates safely and in line with compliance frameworks. Reporting to the Machinery Manager
Key Responsibilities
• Work with the machinery team to assist with the daily planning of the transport requirements.
• Work with the harvest team in season Oct- May to ensure fruit is delivered efficiently from the field to the packhouse and to the DC
throughout the daily schedule.
• Manage the loading and unloading of produce in a safe and efficient way to best protect the fruit and meet timeframes.
• Use mechanical lifting and unloading devices at the depots if available.
• Ensure the truck/van is being operated within legal limits for weight and width in line with Tasmanian road regulations.
• Ensure all produce is stowed and secured to prevent damage while in transport.
• Maintain delivery records for loads and pickups in line with on farm practices.
• Deliver goods off farm to other areas of the state as required.
• Communicate closely with the harvest and machinery team as required.
• Maintain the truck/vehicle in a clean and presentable state in line with company policy.
• Ensure the truck/vehicle is serviced by the farm mechanic in line with service requirements.
• Communicate any issues/concerns with the truck/vehicle to the machinery manager as appropriate.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, productive, and presentable machinery yard.
• Be responsible for OH&S in the machinery site to provide a safe working environment
