Thamarrurr Development Corporation (TDC) located in Wadeye are seeking a qualified Truck Driver & Machinery Operator to join our Housing & Construction Team.
We are a Not-for-Profit, registered charitable organisation, owned by members of the Wangka, Tjanpa and Lirga peoples. The Wadeye Community, (formerly Pt Keats) NT, is located in the Western Daly River region – an area rich in cultures, wildlife and ecosystems. Wadeye is the Territory's 6th most populous town and one of Australia's largest remote indigenous communities.
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Truck Driver & Machinery Operator to join our team in the building and construction industry. In this role you will be responsible for operating various heavy machinery and equipment to assist in the construction process. Your attention to detail, knowledge of machinery operation, and commitment to safety will contribute to the successful completion of projects. Primarily based in Wadeye, occasional work may be required in surrounding areas including outstations within the Thamarrurr region, Palumpa and Peppimenarti.
Skills:
- Proficient in operating MC Truck and various heavy machinery such as backhoe, excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, graders, rollers, and Skid Steer.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to machinery operation
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and drawings
- Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Effective communication abilities
To be successful you'll have:
- Resilience, cheerfulness, attention to detail and a willing “can do’ attitude
- Sound organisational and time management skills
- Ability to display initiative, problem solve, make decisions and work with limited supervision
- Sound communication (both written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Intermediate to high level of mathematical skills
- The ability to work and deal sensitively with Indigenous members of the community
Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Truck Driver / Machinery Operator in the building and construction industry and the skills and initiative to conduct repairs and maintenance.
2. Valid NT HC driver's licence.
3. Relevant licences / VOC for machines / mobile plant.
4. NT Construction Card (White Card)
5 .Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations relevant to machine operation.
You will also be required to obtain and maintain:
- National Police Clearance (with assistance)
- Northern Land Council resident & work permits (with assistance)
